Learn some of the basics to making things up and start your way down the road to Improv Stardom. Okay, so there really is no stardom, but by learning how to think on your feet and work as a team, you’ll be well on your way to conquering anything you desire. This class will work quickly through the basics and then have you up on stage in no time making comedy gold. And remember, the first thing you need to know about this class is that it’s impossible to fail.
The Teacher…
Bob Bedore has been teaching improv since 1994 when he was trying to teach himself and the original “Quick Wits”. He continues to both teach and perform every chance he gets. Bob is the author of the best selling “101 Improv Games for Children and Adults” and has a new book on improv coming out in June. Don’t miss this chance to learn from one of the OG’s of Utah Improv.

Come learn short form improv for the humor impaired from one of Laughing Stock’s very own, Eric R. Jensen! Eric is the Off Broadway Theatre’s Artistic Director and has over 25 years of acting and improvising experience. He will work with you on the basic elements of short form improv including character work and how to sharpen those joke telling skills!

It’s the SLCF Stand-Up Comedy Q and A with Keith Stubbs. Keith Stubbs is a comedian, radio host and business owner. Keith started his comedy career in Los Angeles in ’91, toured all over the US and Canada full time, has opened for Jim Gaffigan, Joan Rivers and many more. When not performing stand-up, Keith hosts the morning radio show on 101.5 the Eagle and is the owner of Wiseguys Comedy Clubs.

This question and answer session only occurs once a year at the Salt Lake Comedy Festival. If you are just starting out in comedy or looking to be more marketable outside of Utah this question and answer session is a MUST ATTEND.

Music in comedy

Do you like to sing? do you like to make people laugh? how about both? music and comedy go hand in hand!
In this class you will learn how to sharpen one of the most effective yet intimidating tools in your comedy arsenal, you can learn some of the little tricks to make a parody song shine, or quick and easy methods to make up lyrics on the spot. weather you are musically inclined, or completely tone deaf, you can learn how to participate in the rewarding and laugh inducing realm of music.
Participants are encouraged to bring an instrument if you play one, don’t bring one if you don’t.

Shawn Zumbrunnen has been involved in the comedy scene here in Utah for 15 plus years. From stage to film, to improv comedy he has had the privilege of working with some of the best comedians in the state.
He currently plays improve with several troops, write songs and sings for a local band Rev Mayhem, and has and will be been writing free lance for various groups and venues from the OBT, Voodoo Productions, to Franklin Covey. for more information about Shawn please check you local public library.
