9:00am - 10:30am | Intro to Screenplay Writing INT: A class room with 15 chairs and one professor. Each student has a writing utensil and a pad of paper whereon they will write the brilliance taught on the subject of script writing that is about to be layed before them. On the board is written down the basics of taking an idea from conception to realization. At the far end of the room is a strong wooden door that creaks when it is opened. (Enter Your Teacher) | Intro to Improv You are so funny you should really do improv. If you have heard these words before but never acted on them now is your chance with this introductory class on Improv. Never say never, engage fully, and leave your ego at the door will become three life changing principles for you. Don’t let your fear talk you out of this class. Enroll. Chicken. |
10:45am - 12:15pm | Intro to Sketch and Playwriting You wake up in the middle of the night with the greatest idea for a sketch/play/project, but that’s where it ends..the idea phase. Learn with Scott Holman, Artistic Director from the Desert Theatre and playwright of Utah’s Longest Running Play “My Big Fat Utah Wedding”, what it takes to make your idea more than just a passing thought. Bring pencil, paper, and your thinking cap to this one-of-a-kind workshop where your ideas become realities. | Advanced Improv As the title states this is an Advanced Improv Class. If you have been performing less than a year DO NOT ENROLL in this class. We talk the basics and then we blow your mind. Learn warm-ups so intense you sweat. Come to Jenna Kim Jones's workshop to learn how to use online social media to your advantage. As one of Huffington Post's 18 Women You Should Be Following on Twitter, she'll share her secrets to writing the perfect tweet and explore the importance of personal websites, facebook and everything else online that your parents don't totally understand. Prerequisites: Must cancel any active Myspace accounts before signing up for this class. ***May still need to occasionally use puppies, kittens and other baby animals. | Physical Comedy with 2011’s Battle of the Improvs Winner, ToySoup Pie in the face = classic. Clown with his pants falling down now that’s entertainment. Sometimes it isn’t so much what we say as it is what our body does when we say it. Toy Soup is one of the most physical comedy duos in the entire state of Utah and perhaps even the country. Learn to trust those that are on stage with you and learn your own limits. |

Keith will not only talk about the importance of being true to yourself and finding your identity, but Keith gives advice on how to get time at clubs and the best way to market yourself. With his unique teaching style Keith is sure to answer some of those tough “What to do” and “what not to do” questions about standup comedy. | Musical Improv with 2011’s Improv Survivor Winner, Shawn Zumbrunnen There is no way that improv scene could have been funnier. UNLESS IT WAS A MUSICAL! Shawn Zumbrunnen, winner of last years “Salt Lake Comedy Festival’s Improv Survivor” will teach you some of the tricks of the trade in this often terrifying form of improv. Learn rhyming schemes and patterns AND truly learn to listen to the great gifts your fellow actors give you onstage. |
